This video shows the installation of a PullRite Super 5th Wheel Hitch using a custom designed, vehicle specific mounting kit for a stronger, safer, and more stable towing platform for towing 5th wheel trailers. Super 5th hitches (16K & 20.5K hitches) installed using SuperBrackets use existing holes in the frame of the truck, minimizing the need to drill additional holes, and weakening the truck frame. They also utilize all 8 base rail bolts in the bed, to transfer the weight of the trailer to the frame of the truck – rather than just half the bolts being structural strength points, as other brands offer. Super 5th hitches can also be installed using less expensive Universal Mounting Brackets, and for the ultimate 5th wheel hitch installation, SuperRail kits provide totally removable base rails, and utilize the stronger SuperBracket type frame rail kits.

This video shows the installation of SuperRails, totally removable base rails, for the Super 5th, 5th Wheel Hitch from PullRite using custom designed, vehicle specific mounting brackets for a stronger, safer, and more stable towing platform for towing 5th wheel trailers. SuperRail mounting kits for PullRite’s Super 5th non-slider hitches, and SuperGlide automatic sliding hitches for short bed trucks, feature custom designed, vehicle specific SuperBrackets that use existing holes in the frame of the truck, minimizing the need to drill additional holes, which can weaken the truck frame. PullRite’s 5th wheel hitches can also be installed using less expensive Universal Mounting Brackets with more traditional fixed base rails in the bed.

This video takes a look at the more radical ideas that some people think might be a solution for towing 5th wheel trailers with a short bed truck. Mounting a hitch behind the truck axle, or changing the towing pivot point to behind the axle, creates unstable, unsafe, and dangerous towing characteristics. No knowledgeable RVer, RV Dealer, or Hitch Installer would suggest or consider these options. Moving the towing pivot point behind the truck axle induces dangerous trailer sway, and eliminates the advantages inherent to 5th wheel towing – with the trailer now having a negative effect on the safety, stability, and handling due to cross winds, passing trucks, and unexpected maneuvers. Safe handling speeds will be significantly reduced.

This short video examines the problem that short bed truck owners face when towing a 5th wheel trailer. It helps demonstate the fact that there is a clearance issue while turning – and the drawbacks of the manual slider hitch as a less the optimim solution.

This video segment demonstrates the option of a manual slider hitch that many short bed truck owners consider when wanting to protect their truck, trailer, and passengers from accidents while towing their 5th wheel trailer. There are lots of drawbacks to a product that requires you to remember to physically re-position the hitch before a safe turn can be made – something that leaves many at risk of accidents and damage if they forget – not to mention the “hassle factor” If “safe, Convenient, & Hassle Free” are important factors, a manual slider isn’t the choice!
